DUN AENGUS, dans les îles d'Aran, est l'un des plus fins et probablement le mieux placé des forts en pierre de l'Europe. Il est perché à l'extrème pointe du monde occidental, au bord de falaise, qui surplombent de près de 100 mètres l'Océan Atlantique. Le fort consiste en trois (autrefois quatre) clôtures de cercle semi-concentriques, chacune entourée par des murs de pierres sèches. Les légendes racontent que c'était le fort d'Aengus, un chef Fir Bolg, banni ici après la Bataille de Moytura.
DUN AENGUS, ARAN ISLANDS is one of the finest and probably most dramatically situated stone forts of Europe. It is perched on the very end of the western world, on the edge of sheer sea cliffs, which rise near 100 meters from the Atlantic Ocean below. The fort consists of three (formerly four) concentric semi circle enclosures, each surrounded by walls of dry masonry. Legends suggests that this was the fort of Aengus, a Fir Bolg chieftain, banished here after the Battle of Moytura.
